More information on the Alamo Flag
The expansion of the United States into Texas started in 1824. In December 1835 a small group of Americans occupied a small chapel popularly known as the "Alamo" to fend off Mexican troops. For a period of 13 days they were successful in defending their small force of about 184 people against overwhelming odds of up to 6,000 Mexican troops before being defeated. The fight at the Alamo became a symbol of resistance and independence by the Texans. |
