What is the wind velocity in your area and how will it effect your flagpole?
It is important to choose the right flagpole for your geographic location. For example wind speeds are generally higher along coastal areas, in open country and as the height above the ground increases. Some of our flagpoles are design for coastal areas. They have a special treatment that can withstand wind and moisture. If however, you live in a environment that gets little to no wind you don't have to worry about taking these extra precautions.
Use the chart to the right to determine the maximum wind speed in your area.

What are the surroundings of your flagpole?
If your flagpole is surrounded by buildings or trees there maybe an issue with wind blockage. You need an adequate amount of wind to fly your flags, if you are afraid this could be an issue it is recommended that you purchase a flagpole 5 - 10 feet taller than your surroundings.
It is important to consider the length of your flags based on their surroundings. If you have more than 1 flagpole you want to be sure the poles are far enough apart when both flags are flying to prevent dangling. You also want to place flagpoles far enough away from other surroundings to prevent the flag from touching other objects and getting damaged. The size flags you intend to use need to be considered before placing your flagpoles.
Wind direction should also be considered before placing your flagpole. You will want to place the cleat or hoist side towards or against the wind based on the direction you want your flags to fly.
The ground in which you are placing your flagpole is also important to consider. We do NOT recommend installing your flagpole in frozen ground or even cold temperatures. It is important to let your flagpole settle into warm ground. In some colder climates flagpoles are required to be placed deeper into the ground. Flagpoles are manufactured with an extra 10% of the pole, this 10% is the amount that is recommended to be placed into the ground. If your city regulations require you put the flagpole a certain number of feet into the ground a larger flagpole maybe required.
IMPORTANT: Check with your city or town to determine flagpole height regulations in your area
