Maryland Nylon State Flag 5'x8'

Our 5'x8' Maryland State flags are constructed of tough, long-lasting nylon which offers the best resistance to damaging ultraviolet radiation allowing the flags color to last longer than traditional nylon flags.  Our outdoor Maryland flags feature fray resistant stitching (4-stitch fly ends) that create durable seams that resist fraying better. Lightweight nylon material dries quickly and flies beautifully in even the slightest breeze. These Maryland flags are finished with a heavy-weight canvas header and solid brass grommets.

Maryland’s colony was originally founded by Cecil Calvert and this is why the Calvert family black and gold coat of arms is on the flag. George Calvert adopted his coat of arms, which was slightly different, in that it included both his paternal and maternal family; hence, the Maryland state flag. (he red and white design on the opposite quadrants is from the Crossland family, George Calvert’s mother). Adopted in 1904, Maryland is the only state flag that is based on British heraldry.
