U.S. Army Flags
Established during the American Revoultionary War the United States Army is the oldest and largest branches in the military. The Army is mainly responsible for land based opertations in matters involving national security and defense strategies. The flag of the United States Army consists of a blue replica of the official seal of the War Office in the center, above a scarlet scroll inscribed with "United States Army". Below the scroll is "1775", which is the year when the US Army was created. U.S. Navy Flags
The United States Navy is the Sea Branch of the U.S. military and is the largest Naval branch in the world. The United States Navy formed during the American Revolution but was officially established in 1794 to fight off pirates. The main objective of the Navy is to maintain the freedom of the seas. The flag of the United States Navy consists of the Seal of the Department of the Navy in the center, above a large yellow scroll inscribed "United States Navy" in dark blue letters. U.S. Air Force Flags
The U.S. Air Force was established in 1947 after breaking away from the U.S. Army branch. The Airforce is the aerial, space and cyber branch of the United States military. The flag of the United States Air Force consists of the coat of arms, 13 white stars which represent the 13 original colonies (the 3 star grouping at the top portray the three Departments of the National Defense Establishment) and the Air Force Seal. U.S. Marine Corps Flags
The United States Marine Corps is the division of the military responsible for providing force protectiong from the sea. The Marine Corps works closely with the U.S. Navy for logistics, training and transportation. Forming in 1775 the Marine Corps has served in every American armed conflict. The flag of the United States Marine Corps is scarlet red with the Corps emblem in gray and gold. The flag was adopted on January 18, 1939, although Marine Corps Order 4 had established scarlet red and gold and the official colors of the Corps as early as 1925. U.S. Coast Guard Flags
The U.S. Coast Guard was established in 1790 by Alexander Hamilton. The main mission of the Coast Guard is to enforcement maritime law. The flag of the United States Coast Guard is white with a dark blue Great Seal of the United States. The shield on the eagle's breast has a blue chief over vertical red and white stripes. Inscribed in an arc above the eagle is "UNITED STATES COAST GUARD"; below the eagle is the Coast Guard motto, "SEMPER PARATUS" ("Always Ready") and beneath that the numerals 1790 representing the year it was founded.
